
SEATAC – 20-year-old John Nino was apprehended without incident in Tacoma on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 13. DOC officers have placed him back in custody. The case will be referred to local prosecutors to pursue charges of escape.
On August 12, 2025, Nino escaped, in restraints, while being transported through Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, shortly before 8 p.m.
Nino was most recently on community supervision for a second-degree robbery conviction out of Thurston County. DOC issued a warrant for him in June after he failed to report for meetings with his community corrections officer. He was arrested several days ago in New Mexico and was being returned to DOC custody in Washington when he escaped.
DOC’s Community Response Unit worked diligently to locate Nino quickly after his initial escape DOC will review the incident to determine any potential changes needed.
