Vehicle Pursuit
The active attempt by a Department employee using a state vehicle while on duty to chase and apprehend occupants of a moving motor vehicle in excess of posted speeds and other traffic laws.

Volunteer
Any person who of his/her own free will performs assigned or authorized services for the Department for which no monetary or material gain is expected or received.

Volunteer Group
Two or more individuals working together to achieve a common goal or provide a regular service in response to an identified need, i.e., Alcoholics Anonymous, Veterans groups, Prison Fellowship.

Vulnerable Adult
A person 60 years of age or older who has the functional, mental, or physical inability to care for him/herself, or 18 years of age or older who have certain developmental disabilities as defined under RCW 71A.10.020; have a guardian as per RCW 11.88; live in a nursing home, boarding home (assisted living facility), adult family home or soldier’s home; receive in home services through a licensed health care agency, hospice or individual provider; and self-direct their own care as outlines in RCW 74.39.050.
