In celebration of National Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week (PPPS Week), we are honored to recognize the dedicated Community Corrections Officers of the Washington State Department of Corrections Community Corrections Division. These officers work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of our communities. They act as vital supports for individuals transitioning from prison and reentry centers back into society. Their efforts not only promote public safety but also facilitate successful reintegration, providing a bridge to a more hopeful future for those under their supervision.

Community Corrections Officers play a crucial role in the reentry process, guiding and supporting individuals as they navigate the challenges of returning to community life. Their work involves monitoring compliance, providing resources, and fostering positive relationships to help prevent recidivism. Through their commitment and expertise, they contribute significantly to reducing crime and enhancing the quality of life for all community members. These officers embody the principles of rehabilitation and restorative justice, demonstrating that second chances are possible with the right support.

“It takes a tremendous sense of commitment to engage individuals in their change,” said Mac Pevey, the Assistant Secretary for Community Corrections Division. “Our staff do that on a daily basis, improving public safety through the interactions they have with these members of the community. Having done this work with the agency, it is something I deeply believe in, and I am proud of and have tremendous respect for anyone that performs this work.”

This year marks the 25th anniversary of PPPS Week, an annual observance held during the third full week of July since its inception in 1999. As we commemorate this milestone, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all Community Corrections Officers for their unwavering dedication and service. Their hard work and perseverance are instrumental in creating safer communities and providing the foundation for individuals to rebuild their lives. Join us in celebrating these unsung heroes who make a profound difference every day.
