Dressing For Success

Volunteers at the Washington Corrections Center for Women in Gig Harbor run a clothing closet for women about to release from prison. In the past year, they've given 6,800 individual items to 522 women!

By The Numbers: How much clothing is distributed per year?

In 2016, the Washington Corrections Center for Women clothing closet provided the following to women releasing from prison:

  • 500 pairs of jeans
  • 500 pairs of black pants
  • 2,000 blouses and tops
  • 500 seasonal jackets
  • 500 pairs of shoes
  • 500 purses
  • 1,000 pairs of underwear
  • 1,000 pairs of socks and stockings
  • 300 long shirts used as sleep shirts

Volunteers spend 81 hours a month collecting, sorting, washing and mending clothes donated to the program!
