The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center has announced an appointment for Christopher Poulos to serve on its national advisory board.

Poulos was appointed Director of Person-Centered Services by Secretary Cheryl Strange after serving as executive director of the Washington Statewide Reentry Council and an adjunct professor of law at Seattle University.

“Chris’s knowledge and expertise will be a great asset to this important advisory board,” said Strange.

The Justice Center began in the 1990s when members from multiple branches of state government viewed criminal justice issues as an area of bipartisan agreement. The Council of State Governments would then establish the Justice Center as its own separate operating entity in 2006. The Justice Center’s mission is to bring together state and local officials and subject matter experts to discuss challenges and best practices in policy areas directly related to issues of public safety and justice in order to strengthen communities.

“I am incredibly honored to be joining the Council of State Government Justice Center’s Advisory Board. The Justice Center does an amazing job of successfully working with both state governments and communities,” said Poulos. “As a formerly incarcerated person and policy professional, joining this esteemed group is incredibly meaningful for me and represents a strong step towards centering directly impacted people in leadership and the decision-making process.”
