PRESS RELEASE: Name of Deceased Incarcerated Individual at Washington State Penitentiary Released

WALLA WALLA — Dayva Cross, who had been sentenced to death in King County Washington, was pronounced deceased on March 13, 2022, at approximately 1:15 p.m. The cause of death is under investigation. Prison Officials are working closely with the Walla Walla Police Department (WWPD) to investigate the matter.

Cross was sentenced to death for the murders of his wife, and two stepdaughters in March of 1999 in King County, Washington. His sentence was later converted to life in prison when Washington’s Supreme Court ruled that the state’s use of capital punishment has been unconstitutional, in 2018.
