The Old Trails fire that has destroyed hundreds of homes in Spokane County continues to burn roughly six miles northeast of Airway Heights Corrections Center (AHCC). Currently, the facility is not under an evacuation order and remains safe to operate. AHCC has emergency response plans in place and is prepared to implement them if conditions change.
AHCC has also opened an Incident Command Post that is closely monitoring the fire’s behavior, weather conditions, air quality and any potential impacts to facility operations. The safety of our staff and incarcerated individuals is our top priority.
Visiting and volunteer programs will resume on Friday, August 7.
