Deputy Communications Director Rachel Noll (DOC Communications)
TUMWATER – The Department of Corrections has appointed Rachel Noll as its new Deputy Communications Director effective September 16, 2020.
Noll joined the Department of Corrections in February 2019 as a public information officer at Cedar Creek Corrections Center (CCCC) near Littlerock, Washington. She moved to the headquarters communications team as a communications consultant 4 in October 2019.
“Rachel has served the Corrections Communications team with professionalism, creativity and a passion for our people and those we serve,” said Communications Director Janelle Guthrie. “I’m proud to promote her into this critical role on our team.”
Prior to joining the department, Noll worked for the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) in British Columbia as a Case Review Officer. During her time at the OIPC, she became a Certified Information and Privacy Professional. She was responsible for monitoring the responses of government bodies and private organizations to Freedom of Information requests and privacy breaches, as well as reviewing their compliance under the legislation.
Additionally, she managed the OIPC’s participation as Secretariat in the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA), a forum made up of similar regulatory offices in 13 countries around the Asia Pacific Rim. In this role she maintained international relationships, media releases/responses and joint international policies.
Prior to her work with the OIPC, Rachel worked for the Governor of Alaska. At the Governor’s office, she assisted with constituent relations, project management and interagency communications.
