UPDATED 08/13/2019, 9:10 a.m. – Mark David Vannausdle was apprehended safely and without incident at 7:37 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, at a location less than two miles from the Olympic Corrections Center (OCC). Vannausdle will receive a medical assessment, then he will be interviewed and transported to a state correctional facility.
The Department of Corrections' Inmate Recovery Units and others from the Olympic, Stafford Creek, Clallam Bay, and Cedar Creek Corrections Centers worked in close partnership with staff from DOC headquarters and other agencies, including the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the Forks Police Department and the Washington State Patrol. The Department greatly values and gives thanks to its public safety partners.
FORKS – Washington Department of Corrections and local law enforcement are searching for inmate, Mark David Vannausdle, 60, who escaped from the Olympic Corrections Center at approximately 7:08 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019, while en route from his living unit to the dining facility.
Correctional employees initiated escape procedures. The facility deployed its Inmate Recovery Team (IRT) and notified law enforcement who are assisting in the search. The Inmate Recovery Team from Stafford Creek Corrections Center has also joined the search.
Mark David Vannausdle (845800) was convicted of assault 1 and robbery 1 with firearm enhancements out of Pierce County. He began serving a 240-month sentence on Sept. 10, 2002. His release date had been tentatively set for Jan. 1, 2021.

Olympic Corrections Center is located in Forks, WA. It is a minimum custody facility that houses approximately 380 male inmates. It opened in 1968.
