The Crime Victims Rights' Act
  • Was initiated in October of 2004
  • Is an essential part of the Justice for All Act
  • Is celebrated during National Crime Victims' Rights week in April
  • Promotes compliance with victims' rights laws
  • Helps fund grant programs and other provisions
Washington Victim Service Programs

More than 34,000 people are enrolled in Washington State Department of Corrections victim notification services. These include victims, their family members and witnesses.

The Victim Services Program’s goal is to make sure victims’ voices are heard, valued and included in an effort to hold convicted persons accountable, prevent future harm and enhance community safety.

  • The number of people in the U.S. aged 12 or older who had been victims of violent crime rose form 2.7 million in 2015 to 3.1 million in 2017.
Violent Crime Nationally
  • From 2015 to 2017, overall property crime rates declined from 118.6 victimizations per 1,000 households to 108.4 per 1,000.
  • Burglaries fell form 23.7 victimizations per 1,0000 households to 20.6.
